The phenomenal success of Internet video sites, such as YouTube and MySpace,

The growth of OTT (over-the-top) video sites with TV networks recognizing the business

value of providing online access to their content.

The legitimization and commercialization of P2P content distribution with media

companies and CDNs pairing up with P2P players and using P2P technology to deliver

content over the net. P2P is increasingly seen as a cost-effective means for producers

and content owners to distribute premium content to end users. P2P content is nearly

all video and now transitioning over to High Definition delivery.

 

With the emergence of OTT video and premium P2P services, existing traffic management solutions need to be enhanced to meet the new network challenges.
